Ethiopia

Mekdelawit is a full orphan and is raised by grandmother. Her grandmother does her best to meet the family's needs, but is unable to work and has struggled to provide Mekdalawit with the materials she needs for school. Mekdalawit not only may be forced to give up her education, but like many young girls living in poverty in Addis Ababa, she is at risk of becoming a house servant in order to survive.
